It’s a girl!

There is a new baby at the Phoenix Zoo and visitors will be able to visit her very soon.

A baby girl giraffe was born on February 7th and she currently stands at 6-feet-tall and weighs about 150 lbs. The zoo reports that baby calf is healthy and enjoys spending most of her time close to her momma in the barn.

The 2-week-old is the third calf conceived between an eight-year-old giraffe called Sunshine and the fourth calf fathered by a 13-year-old male Miguu.
Sunshine seems to be a very protective mother and staff is expecting the mother-daughter duo to stay in their barn, away from the exhibit for special bonding over the next few weeks.

Visitors can expect to get their first glimpse of the zoo’s newest addition probably sometime in March or April.
