GiGi’s Playhouse, a center that assists both adults and children with Down Syndrome will open its fitness studio this weekend.

GiGiFIT Studio, located at 92nd Street and Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale, will open its doors on Saturday, February 19th. The grand opening event will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will include a ribbon cutting, fitness demonstrations and tours of the new facility.

“We are so excited to be opening the GiGiFIT Studio,” Robin Lea-Amos, executive director, said in the press release. “We have been aiming to build a fitness studio for some time to offer our community more fitness classes and promote health, socialization and leadership opportunities.”

GiGi’s Playhouse currently serves 800 families and offers about 9,000 hours of free programming, which includes therapeutic and educational programs that advance literacy, math skills and motor skills every year.

With the additional space, the organization expects to help twice as many families.

Scottsdale Charros and the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority, nonprofit civic groups, provided the funding for the unique studio.
