The Arizona Opera Release Their 2022-23 Season Schedule

The Arizona Opera announced their 2022-23 season, which will feature five in-theater productions in Phoenix and Tucson.

Performance season tickets will go on sale on Feb. 23 for current subscribers and will open to single tickets on April 18.

“Arizona Opera is thrilled to offer a 2022-23 season that will serve Arizona with a mix of vibrant programming designed for our whole community, both on and off the stage,” said Joseph Specter, company president and general director, said in the release.

“Arizona Opera has continually evolved over the past two years through the pandemic, and while we are still navigating the trials of this chapter, we recognize that the world needs art now more than ever.”

The season will open with two McDougall RED Series productions which will take place at the Herberger Theatre Center in Phoenix and the Temple of Music and Art in Tucson.
The first production is “The Falling and the Rising.” It will run Oct. 14-16 in Phoenix and Oct. 22-23 in Tucson.

The next production will be Richard Strauss’ masterpiece “Ariadne auf Naxos” on Dec. 2-4 in Phoenix and Dec. 10-11 in Tucson.

The main stage series will begin at Symphony Hall in Phoenix and Tucson Music Hall with the classic “Tosca.” That production will run Jan. 20-22 in Phoenix and Jan. 28-29 in Tucson.

“The Sound of Music” takes the stage in Phoenix on March 3-5 and in Tucson on March 11-12.

The Arizona Opera will conclude their season with Mozart’s classic “The Magic Flute” on April 7-9 in Phoenix and April 15-16 in Tucson.

In other exciting news for the 2023-2024 season, the Arizona Opera also announced the third world premiere will be “Frankenstein,” which is the story being told from the creature’s perspective and focusing on the horror of alienation.
