Police Issue Warning About Latest TikTok Challenge Known As ‘Slap a Teacher’
Just as school districts across the state have dealt with the havoc and destructive that the Tik Tok challenge called “Devious Licks” brought in destroying school property, which led to arrests and serious disciplinary actions, an new challenge has emerged on TikTok.
According to posts circling on TikTok, the trends for October is allegedly be “Slap A Teacher” month. Information is circulating on social media encouraging students to slap their teacher. The new trend is concerning for teachers and law enforcement.
The trend encourages students to walk up to their teacher or school staff member and slap them before running away, all while someone films the incident to post.
School districts and police departments across the state have joined forces warning students, parents and teachers that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. This act will be considered a crime of aggravated assault, which will charge the student with a felony.
Parents are being asked to talk to their children about the responsible use of social media and consequences when following social media or suggestions and the long term impacts it can have on their future.
