After a judge struck down a ban on school mask mandates that was set to go into effect Wednesday, some Phoenix-area school districts have enacted new requirements on their campus.

An Arizona Superior Court judge ruled Monday a ban on the mandates passed in June by the state legislature and Gov. Doug Ducey as part of the state budget violated the state constitution and couldn’t go into effect as scheduled.

Some school districts stood their ground against the governor and required face masks at the start of the school year.

After the ruling on Monday, other schools chose to update their guidance and reinstate the requirement of face masks in the classroom.
