Domed Resort Experience Coming to Grand Canyon National Park

An Arizona company is bringing a unique vacation experience featuring accommodations in tricked-out geodesic domes to Grand Canyon National Park later this year.

Clear Sky Resorts’ “Welcome Domes” can sleep up to seven guests and come styled in a variety of themes, including ‘80s video games, space galaxy and British spy.

The climate-controlled structures are fitted with swinging chairs suspended from the 26-foot-high ceilings and have large windows that offer views of the landscape and sky.

“Imagine laying in a luxurious bed staring up at the expansive night sky brimming with stars,” Hal Feinberg, co-owner of the Tempe-based company, said in a press release.

“There’s nothing more awe-inspiring than falling asleep under a canopy of stars then waking up to a spectacular sunrise that reveals the scenic panorama of the surrounding landscape you’ve come to explore.”

While tent-like in appearance, the domes are anything but rustic. Each has a private bathroom with a rain shower, and they are stocked with luxury linens, plush bathrobes and towels.

The domes are just part of the vacation adventure. The resort, located 20 minutes south of the South Rim entrance, will also offer activities such as daily happy hours, breakfast and dinner options, glow-in-the-dark frisbee golf, lighted sculpture night walks and movie nights.

Reservations are available from late May until early January. Prices start at $484 per night, but the resort is offering a 20% discount for bookings made by March 30.

The company will open a second venue at Montana’s Glacier National Park in June. They have plans for up to 15 locations, according to the release.
