Plan on Loop 101 and Loop 202 Freeway Closures This Weekend

Sections of westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) in north Phoenix and northbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) are scheduled to be closed this weekend (Jan. 15-18) for improvement projects, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following weekend freeway restrictions are in place:

Westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between State Route 51 and Cave Creek Road in the north Valley from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Jan. 18) for widening project. Northbound SR 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 closed (ramp to northbound Black Mountain Boulevard will remain open). Westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 56th Street also closed. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Westbound Loop 101 traffic can detour to southbound SR 51 and use westbound Union Hills Drive to northbound Seventh Street. Drivers north of Loop 101 can consider using westbound Deer Valley Drive to southbound Cave Creek Road.

Northbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) closed between Lower Buckeye and Buckeye roads in West Valley from 3 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday (Jan. 18) for bridge work. Northbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Broadway Road closed. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Northbound Loop 202 drivers exiting at Lower Buckeye Road can detour along northbound 59th Avenue.
