Discount airline Allegiant Air announced nonstop service between metro Phoenix and a popular Wyoming resort town beginning in late spring.

The route from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport to Jackson Hole and back will take off June 2, the airline announced Tuesday, and run twice a week.

“We are thrilled that Allegiant is increasing service at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport,” Gail Barney, chair of the Airport Authority and mayor of Queen Creek, said in a press release.

Allegiant is the East Valley airport’s main carrier.

“We’re thrilled to offer our customers a new route to one of the nation’s most popular outdoor destinations, Jackson Hole,” Drew Wells, Allegiant’s vice president of revenue and planning, said in the press release.

Jackson Hole is close to Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks and is known for its skiing.
