I-10 Near Downtown Closed Friday, Saturday Nights For Tunnel Cleaning

Stretches of Interstate 10 in the downtown Phoenix area will be closed mostly at night this weekend (Dec. 11-14) for regularly scheduled cleaning of the Deck Park Tunnel near Seventh Street, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following weekend freeway restrictions are in place:

  • Eastbound I-10 closed between the I-17 “Stack” interchange (near 27th Avenue) and the State Route 51/Loop 202 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 12) for tunnel maintenance. Both I-17 ramps to eastbound I-10 closed. Southbound SR 51 and westbound Loop 202 ramps to eastbound I-10 will be open. DETOUR: Eastbound I-10 traffic can detour to southbound I-17 at the Stack interchange and connect with I-10 near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
  • Westbound I-10 closed between the I-17 “Split” interchange near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 13) for tunnel maintenance. Southbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound I-10 closed. Westbound Loop 202 ramp to westbound I-10 will remain open but traffic must exit I-10 at Seventh Street. The westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard ramp to westbound I-10 will be open but traffic limited to accessing northbound SR 51 and eastbound Loop 202. Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Washington Street restricted (access also limited to northbound SR 51 or eastbound Loop 202). Southbound I-17 ramp at westbound I-10 (including access to Sky Harbor Airport) at the Split interchange also closed. DETOUR: Westbound I-10 traffic can detour on northbound I-17 and connect with I-10 at the Stack interchange (north of Van Buren Street).
  • Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two lanes overnight between Cave Creek Road and SR 51 in north Phoenix from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights (Dec. 13-17) for widening project. Eastbound Loop 101 off- and on-ramps at Cave Creek Road closed overnight. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time when the Cave Creek Road ramps are closed and consider exiting eastbound Loop 101 at Seventh Street, SR 51 or Tatum Boulevard.
  • Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) on-ramp at 19th Avenue and eastbound off-ramp at Seventh Avenue closed for approximately 60 days from 10 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 13) through mid-February 2021DETOURS: Consider entering eastbound Loop 101 via 27th or Seventh avenues while the eastbound on-ramp at 19th Avenue is closed. Consider exiting eastbound Loop 101 at Seventh Street and detouring via the westbound frontage road while the eastbound off-ramp at Seventh Avenue is closed.
