Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers Opening Cold Beers & Pizza in Scottsdale

Cold beers and cheeseburgers are more than just a classic combo in metro Phoenix. As many Valley residents recognize, the duo is also the name of a local restaurant chain.

Now, that chain is expanding to open a new restaurant concept in Scottsdale.

Called Cold Beers & Pizza, the new restaurant will switch its food focus from burgers to, as the name indicates, pizza. It will serve varieties of Midwest-style thin crust pizza along with hand-tossed Neapolitan-style pies.

The new restaurant will be located directly next door to its sibling burger joint on Scottsdale Road north of Third Avenue in Old Town.

Both restaurants are owned by Square One Concepts. Founder and CEO S. Barrett Rinzler described the pizza concept as a “dovetail” of the original.

“It’s a challenging time for all of us in the restaurant industry. But the way we see it, we’ve got to keep living and doing things for the future,” Rinzler said in a news release.

Cold Beers & Pizza is scheduled to open in late November.

Referring to the menu at the new restaurant, Rinzler says diners can expect “delicious, straightforward pizza options” that will be served via walk-up service. Servers will be on hand to deliver drinks to customers.

The menu will also include cold beers, as the name promises, and will have at least 20 beers on tap with another 30 available in bottles and cans.

The food menu includes pizza, pasta, salad, sandwiches and dessert options including cannoli’s and skillet cookies.

Thin crust pizza options include:

• The Godfather with pepperoni, sausage, onions and oregano.
• The Flagstaff with spinach, mushrooms, roasted garlic, tomatoes and olives.

Neapolitan-style pizzas include:

• Classic Margherita.
• The Wiseguy with red sauce, soppressata, basil and mozzarella.
• Scampi, a white pizza with shrimp, garlic sauce, spinach and basil.
• Broccoli Aglio e Olio, a white pizza with broccoli, chopped garlic, basil and two types of cheese.

Non-pizza dishes are also available including:

• Spaghetti and meatballs
• Fettuccini alfredo
• Meatball or Italian hoagies
• Chicken Parm sandwich

The new Cold Beers & Pizza’s location is no stranger to restaurants and has previously been home to seafood spot Crab & Mermaid and Famous 48 sports bar.

Famous 48 is also owned by Square One Concepts and found a new home in north Scottsdale shortly after it opened in Old Town.

Square One Concepts also owns Scottsdale restaurants Bourbon & Bones and Wasted Grain among others in Tucson and California. Cold Beers & Pizzas will be the hospitality company’s ninth concept.
