Arizona Facing Fewer COVID Travel Restrictions

With Arizona’s number of COVID-19 cases holding steady yet down significantly from the spike of cases in early summer, many states are dropping their requirement that people arriving from Arizona self-quarantine.

The New York tri-state area, which includes New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, no longer includes Arizona among the states whose travelers face restrictions.

Pennsylvania, Kansas, Chicago and Washington, D.C., also have removed Arizona from travel restriction lists.

Arizona has no travel restrictions or quarantine requirements. Gov. Doug Ducey let his  Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected order expire on May 15. Shortly thereafter, Arizona’s number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths from the new coronavirus began to soar.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still advises that the best way to avoid contracting or spreading COVID-19 is to stay home.

However, there may be a reason you need to travel during the pandemic, so here are the current restrictions and quarantine requirements state by state.

Alabama

There are currently no restrictions.

Alaska

Alaska continues to have travel restrictions for anyone entering the state. Every traveler has to fill out a form upon arrival and chose one of these three options:

  • Arrive with proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered 72 hours before arrival.

  • Quarantine for 14 days or the duration of your trip, whichever is shorter.
