Mandatory Mask Policy To Be Implemented At Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

By on May 21, 2020 0 1002Views

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport announced Wednesday that it will be implementing a mandatory face mask policy beginning next month.

Effective June 1, all visitors to airport facilities and employees will be required to have their noses and mouths covered, the city said in a press release.

That includes terminals, the rental car center, the PHX Sky Train and airport buses.

Travelers are being asked to bring their own masks. Airport officials said that make shift face coverings such as bandanas, scarves or even a turtleneck pulled up over the mouth and nose would suffice. Some stores at the city-run airport are currently selling masks, the release said.

The airport also said it was launching the “PHX – Here for You” campaign to promote health safety during the coronavirus pandemic.

It includes signage encouraging safe practices, physical distance markers at counters and security checkpoints, Plexiglas barriers and hand sanitizer dispensers.
