Curbside COVID-19 Treatment Offered At NextCare Urgent Care

In an effort to help stop the spread of COVID-19, 14 NextCare Urgent Care locations in Arizona are offering curbside treatment.

People can see the closest facility, hours of operation, phone number, current patient queue and check-in online.

Dr. Amanpreet Singh, senior vice president of medical operations, said that patients worried about the coronavirus can be seen from inside their car and tested for flu or strep. He added if everything comes out negative, a test for COVID-19 can be conducted.

“[We] separate the COVID-19 patients from the normal urgent care patients that we see,” Singh said. “We want to make sure the public feels safe to come into our clinics.”

Those who do not present viral or COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to come into the clinic to complete the visit.

Singh advised calling before visiting one of the facilities in order to talk to a provider who can make a decision on the need to be checked out and receive further instructions on how to proceed.

The curbside program has been operating for the last two weeks and is going well, according to Singh.

“The patients do feel like they have been addressed in an appropriate manner and any questions of COVID-19 concerns have been taken care of,” he said.

In addition to the curbside program, NextCare is also offering a telemedicine service that allows patients to describe their symptoms and talk to a medical professional by phone or video in their home.

Numbers released from the Arizona Department of Public Health Services on Saturday show just over 27,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted statewide, with 7% of the total tests coming back positive.
