Kichler Ceiling Fans, Homestar Finch Dressers Recalled

Nearly 40,000 ceiling fans are being recalled because the blades can fly off while the fan is in use. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Kichler has received 62 reports of the fans breaking, including one report of property damage.

The recall involves Kichler model number 35153, 52 inch, five-blade ceiling fans, which were sold at several retailers including Lowes from January 2016 through March 2020 for around $250.

Immediately stop using the recalled fans, and contact Kichler for a free replacement. The company can be reached at 866-558-5706 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

Friday, the CPSC also announced the recall of 33,300 Homestar Finch dressers. The three-drawer dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, and pose serious tip-over hazards, according to the agency.

The recalled dressers were sold through several retailers including Amazon, Overstock and Walmart from January 2016 through May 2019.

No injuries have been reported in connection to the recall, but consumers should immediately stop using these dressers if they are not anchored to the wall and move them to an area where children cannot reach them.

Contact Homestar for a free tip-over restraint kit. The company will schedule in-home installations and can be reached at 877-353-5999 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or via email at [email protected].

According to the CPSC, furniture tip-over accidents have killed 459 children in the U.S. since 2000.
