Phoenix Suns Increasing Ticket Prices Next Season, Some Will Be Doubled

Heads up, Phoenix Suns fans. Ticket prices are going up next year. Both single game tickets and season tickets. But why the price hike? The Suns said a lot of it has to do with major arena renovations.

But some fans are in shock, regardless. “My wife and sports. That’s my life!” said Ken Ash. Ash has been a Suns season ticket holder for 16 years. But next season, he says that likely will come to an end.

“The thrill is gone. The thrill is gone. They pulled the rug right out from under us,” Ash said. “Right now, it’s stabbing the fans in the back.”

When he went to renew his tickets, he was shocked by what he was hearing. Currently he has a single seat next to his neighbors. “Each one is about $2,409. And the increase is to $4,343,” Ash said. That’s a nearly 50% hike that Ash said he just can’t justify.

The Suns said in a statement that the fan experience will be much greater next season with a fully renovated arena. The organization said the average increase for most attendees will be 6.3%, and nearly 16% if including other packages. But they said they are sensitive to those who might struggle with the increases and are trying to offer them different seats or options that they can afford.

The Suns also said they haven’t raised ticket prices in ten years, so it was time. But they do acknowledge some people will be dissatisfied.

One longtime Suns fan, Adrian Zarati, said these prices are justified. “A lot of people have been waiting for the ‘summer of 2020.’ We’ve been promised the summer of 2020 for at least 10 years,” Zarati said. “You need to raise ticket prices in order to get that money in.”

The Suns also said that demand is a factor, and said fans are more excited to watch head coach Monty Williams continue to shape them into a competitive and contending team.

But to that, both Ash and Zarati said their performance isn’t enough.

Right now, the Suns rank 13th out of 15 teams in the western conference.
