Team Taylor’s Arcadia Family Fun Run On A Mission To End Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
In April of 2010, a Phoenix family’s life was destroyed by the loss of their daughter Taylor Paige Cosmas. Losing their daughter at the age of five months to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), it was hard to imagine that parents Mark and Katie would ever smile, laugh, or be happy again.
Over time, Katie and Mark dealt with their loss and set on a mission to do something to remember Taylor by and to donate to SIDS in her name. They have literally “ran” towards curing the disease that took their daughter’s life.
In 2011 “Team Taylor” was formed and had the largest team at Pat’s Run with over 170 runners wearing Team Taylor shirts and running in her honor. In 2013, Team Taylor grew to form its own 5k run with nearly 1,000 runners. Since inception, Team Taylor has raised more than $750,000.
Team Taylor has become a prominent event for community engagement and awareness. The goal for 2020’s Family Fun Run is to have over 1,200 runners and donate over $250,000 to SIDS Research in Taylor’s name. They can only accomplish this goal with the community’s support.
The Cosmas family invite you to join them in running or walking with Team Taylor this year. Team Taylor Family Fun Run 5K will take place this year on Sunday, April 5th. The 9th Annual Team Taylor Family Fun Run 5k takes place through the beautiful Arcadia neighborhood during the peak of Spring. The beautiful course gives remembrance to Taylor Paige Cosmas and other SIDS babies that were taken too soon and never got to see their first birthdays. The event raises money for leading SIDS research at Boston Children’s Hospital and safe sleep education programs around Arizona. Proceeds are 100% tax deductible.
Taylor was truly a beautiful child who was always smiling and laughing and making those in her presence do the same. Please join Team Taylor and honor her memory and do something good for SIDS; she can still make us smile.
