iPic Movie Theater In Scottsdale Confirms It Will Close At The End Of The Month

The iPic movie theater in Scottsdale has confirmed that it will close at the end of January.

In a brief message posted on its website, the theater said, “Thank you for your business and support. As part of our restructuring, we have made the difficult decision to close our iPic Scottsdale location, effective January 30. Thank you for your patronage. Please come enjoy the iPic experience one more time before we roll our final credits.”

In another post on its website, the theater said it is closing due to “economic reasons.”

Those with memberships or gift cards to the theater or its restaurant, Tanzy, should visit the theater’s guest services before Jan. 30 or give the theater a call at 480-483-3232 to discuss refunds. After Jan. 30, people will have to contact the theater via email, [email protected]. The theater said it would give “prorated” discounts to those with memberships.

In August 2019, iPic Entertainment announced that it would undergo restructuring and filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. In November 2019, the Florida-based theater chain was sold to Retirement Systems of Alabama, according to a Phoenix Business Journal report.

The Scottsdale theater underwent an extensive renovation in 2018 adding pod-style seating with pillows and blankets, lounge seating, butler service, and the opening of Tanzy.

On its website, iPic said it does not have any other planned closures. It has 15 remaining locations in the U.S., none of which are in Arizona.
