The UM School Open Enrollment and Open Houses Guide

November kicks off the school open house season around the Valley. Arizona parents are lucky to have the freedom to choose where their child may attend school, even if it’s outside of their district of residence, thanks to the state’s Open Enrollment law. Whether you are a parent who is interested in learning more about the school your child will attend or a family trying to decide on public, charter or private, attending the schools open house and understanding the open enrollment process, now is the time to start planning for next year and applying for admission.

To take a little confusion out of the process, The UM has prepared a guide to help with scheduled upcoming open houses.


Bourgade Catholic High School
Tour the campus and meet faculty, staff, administration and coaches from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 and noon-3:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19.

Saint Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church
For over 50 years, Saint Thomas, has been preparing students for success in academics while providing a nurturing and safe place for students to succeed. Talk with students, parents, teachers and administrators at this preK-8 Roman Catholic school. The Fall Open House is scheduled for October 3, 2019. Click here for information.

Saint Francis Xavier Elementary School
Preschool and Kindergarten Open House will be held on Wednesday, October 30th from 8:00am – 9:30am. Parent Ambassadors will give tours to prospective families. Parents will have the opportunity to visit classrooms and listen to a presentation given by the principal and teachers. Scottsdale Christian Academy

Christ Lutheran School

Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory
There will be three opportunities to attend an open house at Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory for the 2019-2020 school year: November 17, January 13, and April 29. Attendees will have the chance to tour the campus, preview PVCP’s curriculum, meet staff and faculty, and learn how to utilize Arizona’s tax-credit laws to make a private, Christian education affordable. Visit their website to rsvp for a tour.

Phoenix Country Day School
Phoenix Country Day School is the valley’s only Pre-K through Grade 12 independent school since 1961. Prospective families are invited to join the open house on for student-guided tours of the 40-acre campus, learn more about our school’s academics, and speak with teachers and administrators.

Madison School District
Founded in 1890, Madison School Elementary District has grown to eight schools with an enrollment of nearly 6,000 students in grades preschool through eighth. Madison Elementary School District is committed to providing extraordinary learning for all. Open enrollment applications for grades K-8 for the 2019-2020 school are now being accepted online.

Great Hearts
Open enrollment for all Great Hearts academies will be open from November 13-December 13, 2019. Any application submitted during the open enrollment period is eligible for a lottery. When academies receive more applications than there are seats available, a lottery is held to help order a waitlist and keep the offers given for grade positions fair. The lottery assigns a random number to each application and then the applications are ordered on the waitlist based on the lottery number, application type and also priority status. Each academy and grade level runs an independent lottery. Basis Charter Schools
Staff members will introduce you to the key elements of Basis charter schools’ critically acclaimed program and address questions during a network-wide open house on Wednesday, November 15th at all Basis schools. Visit Basis.ed for addresses and times at each campus. Must preregister. Open enrollment for the 2018-19 school year runs Nov. 15-Dec. 15.

Paradise Valley Unified School District
The Paradise valley Unified School District provides complete detail on their website regarding their open enrollment process for the 2020-2021 school year. Deadlines are quickly approaching and prospective families are required to apply before submission deadline.
