The Arizona Corporation Commission Receives Notice Of Intent From APS For Rate Case
Arizona Public Service (APS) has filed a notice of intent to file a new rate case with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC).
Consumer advocate, Stacey Champion challenged the impact of the company’s last rate hike back in 2017. She argued that many customers experienced a larger increase than the company had alleged.
Back in July, Commissioners voted not to overturn the 2017 rates and instead directed APS to try again.
The company says this time they aim to:
- keep residential rate changes to a minimum
- propose a pilot program for a flat average monthly bill over 12 months
- double its crisis funding for low income customers from $1.25 million to $2.5 million
An official filing for a rate case is expected by the end of this month. The company is aiming for any new rates to go into effect on December 1, 2020.
