After 22 years, a Valley favorite is closing their doors at the end of September due to an unsuccessful lease extension.

Effective Monday, Sept. 30, The Melting Pot located at East Via de Ventura and Hayden Road will close indefinitely.

In a recent post on the restaurant’s Facebook page, management said, ‘‘This closure is strictly a carefully planned and weighed business decision. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to secure a mutually beneficial lease extension with the current landlord of our Scottsdale location.’’

The Florida-based chain has a total of three franchises in the Valley. Staff at the Scottsdale location will be offered employment opportunities at both The Melting Pot in Ahwatukee and The Melting Pot in Glendale.

Staff at the Scottsdale location will be offered jobs at the two restaurants that will remain open. The Ahwatukee location will undergo an expansion of 50 seats, and the Glendale location has plans to increase the size of their bar and a renovate the patio.

After 22 years, the management would like to thank the Scottsdale community for the opportunity to serve them. According to restaurant, they do have plans to search for a new third location.
