Attention Drivers – Valley Freeways Closures This Weekend

Attention drivers, this weekend there will be several major closures on freeways in the Valley to be aware of.

I-17 FREEWAY

Interstate 17 at Happy Valley Road will be closed southbound from Friday at 10 p.m. to Saturday at 7 a.m. Saturday. In addition, it will be closed northbound from Saturday 10 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m. for bridge girder installation.

101 FREEWAY

The eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between State Route 51 and 56th Street in northeast Phoenix from Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. for zone work setup as part of a widening project.

The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard will be closed, as will the northbound S.R. 51 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 and the northbound S.R. 51 on-ramp at Union Hills Drive.

Seventh Street will be closed in both directions at Loop 101 in north Phoenix from Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. as part of the Loop 101 widening project. Both Loop 101 off-ramps will remain open, but traffic will be limited to right turns.

The Southbound Loop 101 right lane will also be closed in areas between U.S. 60 and Elliott Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

I-10 FREEWAY

Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between 51st and 67th avenues from Friday at 10 p.m. to Sunday at 5 p.m. as part of ongoing construction of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

The westbound I-10 on-ramps at 27th, 35th and 43rd avenues will also be closed during that time.

U.S. 60

U.S. 60 will be narrowed to three lanes between Interstate 10 and Mill Avenue in Tempe from Friday at 9 p.m. to Sunday at 10 p.m. for barrier wall repairs.

The westbound U.S. 60 ramp to the eastbound I-10 will be closed, as will the westbound U.S. 60 HOV ramp to westbound I-10.

Westbound U.S. 60 drivers can connect to eastbound I-10 by exiting southbound Mill Avenue. An alternative route is southbound Priest Drive and using westbound Baseline Road.
