AT&T has improved network reliability and performance over the last three years. The boost in service helped improve critical services for first responders.

The company invested more than half a billion dollars into the expansion. AT&T has announced that the investment, which totaled $525 million, included 540 wireless upgrades in 2018. It was mostly used to add new cell towers and expand LTE coverage.

The president of AT&T Arizona, Toni Morales Brober, said the company made wireless expansions and upgrades a key action in 2017.

“In 2017, Arizona enacted legislation that encourages companies to invest more in wireless infrastructure. This has helped us dedicate millions of dollars to building out Arizona’s mobile network,” Broberg said.

From 2014 to 2016, AT&T invested $575 million in Arizona upgrades. The ones who have benefited the most from the improvements are first responders who use FirstNet.

FirstNet is AT&T’s communications platform for public safety officials. According to AT&T’s speed analysis from earlier this year, first responders in the area have faster network speeds than any other commercial network nationwide.

In addition to the expansion, AT&T invested $300,000 in Believe Phoenix. The program helps address food security issues in Phoenix.
